A New War:part three continued



	It seemed like a war was never going on in the first part of part three 
was it?StarFox had a great Christmas,Bill and Fox proposed to their 
girlfriends,the whole team was together........but it didn't last.Andross 
looms over threateningly,the final battle is close at hand.But whats 
more,some lives have been shattered.
 	We're going forward about seven months,five months after the weddings 
of Fox and Fara,Bill and Jenna.Andross has made his first real strike at 
Corneria,and now the team has been put on the defensive.But even worse,a 
teammate seems to have been lost,and replaced with another....can you 
guess whom?

	"Falco!I can't believe you did that to Katt!"Fox pounded a fist down on 
the table.
	Falco met his glare,but said nothing.
	"What were you thinking!?!"
	"I don't know okay,I don't know!"
	Fox took a deep breath,grabbed Falco's wing,"Look,I'm not trying to make 
something out of this...but why did you just dump her like that,and marry 
Skye Layston?"
	"It wasn't going to work,can't you see?Katt and I were of a totally 
different race.....I just......"
	"Okay Falco,okay.Apparently you had been going out with Skye at the the 
same time as Katt.You felt some pressure,and made a choice."
	Falco looked away,and whispered,"I never meant to hurt her,really,Skye 
and I were just.....the same.Alike,equal,whatever term you want to 
use.And I loved her then,and more now."
	"Yeah,but did you love Katt?"
	Fox's question forced Falco to look up at him.He stared down at his 
wings then and didn't answer.
	"Okay Falco,I keep this secret of yours.You're lying to us about Katt 
terminating the relationship and leaving will be the truth to the rest of 
the team,for now.They'll find out sooner or later.As for Skye,I like 
her,and I have nothing against her.She's a good friend of my wife and 
Jenna."
	"Thanks Fox,"Falco didn't meet his friends eyes.For once in a long 
while,he was ashamed,and felt raw guilt deep in the pit of his stomach.
	Fox rested a paw on his shoulder,"Hey,I'm dropping the entire 
thing,think of it as an old dead arguement.You'll be the one who will 
have to think over what you've done,so we'll drop it at that."

	Falco understood,and he hated himself for the twisted lies he had been 
telling to his team.He learned from the past they only catch up with you 
later.
	"Come'on,we've got a war to win."
	Falco followed him,trying to forget,but found that he couldn't.

	Later that evening,after a meeting with General Pepper,Fox wearily 
entered his room.Fara was curled up asleep on her side of the bed.
	After watching her for several moments,Fox climbed into the shower.He 
tried to dull the headache he had as the cold water rushed down over 
him.It didn't help.He couldn't help but think of the mission laid out 
before him,that he would have to face Andross one more time.His father 
and mother,memories of them flooded through his brain.And his 
team,Fara,Falco's lies about Katt,Skye stepping in and taking her 
place.It was just too much.
	Numbly he got out of the shower,dried off,and pulled on a pair of 
boxers.He studied himself in the mirror after he finished brushing his 
teeth.
	"I am a mess,"He said to himself,before turning of the light and going 
back into the bedroom.
	Fara suddenly turned over.She watched him slide beneath the 
covers,before cuddling close,resting her head on his chest,"Baby,what's 
wrong?"
	"Nothing,"He rubbed his head ruefully,"Just a little tired."
	"You're worried,aren't you?About the mission Pepper gave us?"
	"No,it's not that,I know we can handle it,it's just......."
	"What?"
	Fox twined his fingers about hers,"It's just that before......the 
mission is dangerous,we all know that.We were ready for it then,and we 
still are know,but we weren't.......I didn't have......"
	Fara sat up and peered down at him,"Didn't have what baby?"
	"I didn't have you."
	Fara gave a slight smile,"How does that effect the mission?"
	Fox sat up too,clasped her paws tightly,"Fara,this is more than a 
mission,to me it's personal.I made a promise to someone long ago that I 
would destroy Andross.This is the last battle between him and 
us....between him and me.One of us will live,the other will die,there's 
not going to be any tie or stalemate."
	"But baby,I don't understand?"
	Fox hung his head,"Fara,I could very well be killed,I don't want to 
leave you widow.And if something was to happen to you...."
	He covered his face with his paws,"I would die.I could never forgive 
myself."
	Fara watched her husband begin to sob.Gently she pulled him back to lie 
down,smoothing his fur back on his forehead with a free paw,and holding 
his own paws with her other.
	"Fox,nothing is going to happen to any of us,not you or me.I can feel 
it.We won't loose each other."
	He sat up again and looked down at her.Her soft eyes were full of 
promise and her love for him.He bent over and kissed her 
passionately,pulling her into his arms.
	It was a night he would never forget.


	In another room,Falco curled up with Skye.
	"It's Katt isn't it?"She turned over to look at him.
	"No,no,I'm just thinking about some stuff,"He ran his fingers through 
her blue and white feathers,"Oh Skye,what have I done?"
	She smoothed his own feather's back,"Hon',we are all gonna make 
mistakes.With Katt,you found it hard to make a choice,you cared about us 
both very much,but you did make one,me."
	You're no mistake Skye,"He smiled,kissing her tenderly,"I just feel 
guilty.I could have ended our relationship in some better way."
	"It's okay,in time,it won't be so bad to think about.As for Katt,she's 
probably thinking the same thing.And if I know her,she'll be okay.She's 
strong like you."
	Falco laughed,but it was uneasy laugh.
