STARFOX: WORLDS APART
           &nb sp;           &nbs p;    EPILOGUE

Two weeks later.....

They had only received a message that they attend a very special
function for Fox McCloud.

"Hmmmm, I wonder what it could be?", Cloud asked as the Highwind-II,
newly repaired, arrived in Cornerian airspace. Since there was no hurry
this time, they could afford to take it easy on the engines.

"I dunno." Tifa answered.

"Hello, Cloud. Fox told us you would be here.", a voice called over the
comm. Cloud looked out the viewport and saw three Arwings and an
Avenger-class fighter pull up alongside them..

"Hi, Peppy. Long time, no see.", Cloud answered.

"Same here, though it's only been two weeks. Come on, we'll show you
where to land."

They arrived at a large clearing. Fox was there to greet them, dressed
in his finest and nervous as all hell.

"Fox, our honored guests are here.", Peppy spoke, as they walked off the
ramp.

"Fox, what's up? Why are you dressed so formal?", Cloud asked.

"Yeah, and why are you so nervous?", Yuffie asked.

It didn't take a rocket scientist for Tifa to figure out what was going
on. "Fox, you're....."

"Yes, Tifa, I am. I owe it to you guys to invite you here.  After all,
if you didn't come here in the first place, this wouldn't be happening.
I..I owe you a debt beyond repayment. If ever you need anything in the
future, you're free to come here and ask."

"Come on. We're starting.", Falco said. Even he was exceptionally nice
for the affair.

Everyone walked through the doorway of the building where they had
landed by.

Fox was surrounded by his friends on the most important day of his life.
He had pushed it up a whole six months because he had come too close to
losing her....

And suddenly, Fara Phoenix walked in. It was only fitting that she wore
Vixy's dress for the occasion. It wasn't too elegant, but then, that
particular dress held more value than elegance for Fox.

Surprisingly, Pepper was presiding over the whole thing. He didn't
usually do these things, but then, Fox and Fara deserved it.

"We are gathered here this day to witness the joining of Fox McCloud and
Fara Marie Phoenix in the bonds of holy matrimony. The stars only know
that they deserve it--and were meant to be. If anyone here should
object, let them speak now or forever hold their peace...."

The whole room went dead silent for about a minute.

"Fox McCloud, do you take this vixen as your wife, to have and to hold,
in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, as long as you both
shall live?"

"Beyond a doubt,", he said as he stared into her eyes, "I do."

"Fara Marie Phoenix, do you take this fawn to be your husband, to have
and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, as long as
you both shall live?"

She paused for a minute. She had waited all her life for this day. Two
words would complete the journey.

She spoke them, as she gazed into his eyes.

"I do."

"Then, by the powers vested in me by the planet of Corneria, I now
pronounce you husband and wife.", Pepper completed. "Congratulations,
Mr. and Mrs. McCloud."

Afterwards, Cloud and his friends, both old and new, gathered by the
main ramp of the Highwind-II.

"Well, I guess we're off for now. Who knows when we'll meet again?",
Cloud asked.

"I don't know. But, I'll hope for the best, Cloud.", Fox answered.

"OK. Good luck in your future.", Cloud said, then boarded the ship.

"See you around. You guys were a great asset to Star Fox. If you ever
decide to come back, there's always a place for you on the team.", Peppy
said. "Here, take these."

Peppy handed all of them each a patch. It was a red patch of a winged
fox.

"Now you're officially members of the Star Fox team. Congratulations.",
Fox said.

"Thanks.", Cid said.

Tifa had a parting statement for Fara, "Now don't be too hard on him,
Mrs.McCloud."

"Wouldn't dream of it.", Fara Phoenix McCloud replied. "Take care."

Soon, the Highwind-II disappeared into the clouds.

"They're gone. Will they ever return?", Fara asked her husband.

"Probably. At least, let's hope so."

"Well, at least I know more about my past. And now, the Cetra will live
on."

"True...", Fox said, then smiled slyly, " That reminds me...."

Paw in paw, the newlyweds walked into the sunset, contemplating the
dreams of the future--and what challenges lay ahead.

CREDITS

I would like to thank all those who made this story possible, as well as
those who helped me along the way.

First, no credits section would be complete without credit to the man
who started it all: Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Star Fox.

Next, credit goes to Mr. Benimaru Itoh, whose comic is( in my opinion)
the first fanfic (and whose character, Fara Phoenix, is WAY
underrepresented).

Third, I'd like to thank all those who made Final Fantasy 7 (and I'm
looking forward to 8).

Last, but certainly not least, let me give individual thanks. To Mary
Beth (I don't remember how to correctly spell her last name) whose
drawing "Fox's Nightmare", is some of the inspiration for this story and
captures the emotion of Fox's relationship to Fara quite dramatically.
Second, to KeiFox, who, as a fellow Fara Phoenix fan, has given valuable
advice and tidbits to help me stay correct in my portrayal. Third, to
Ted Perotti. I couldn't begin to mention the inspiration he is. In my
book, he's one of the best authors there is. Fourth, to Tengi, who runs
the Starfox Hotel, where I post my work. (Visit his site, please?)  And
finally, to all those who keep the Star Fox universe alive by writing
fanfics and/or maintaining the sites for people to post them.

A couple of parting notes: First, in the epilogue, I don't remember the
vows word for word (Heck, I've never been married--how should I know?).
So, they're probably not accurate.

Second, I know that there are a lot of events that aren't fully
explained--especially Fara's battle with Zeras. Well, I wrote another
story concerning that one. Called THE CHOSEN PATH, it's essentially the
prequel to WORLDS APART and goes into more detail about Fara's search
for her identity. I hope to have it posted soon.
